Kenya: Tourists could be evacuated

Evacuation of foreign tourists could begin this weekend if post-election anarchy persists in the country, the tourism industry warned Thursday.

“The next 24 hours are going to be critical in determining whether we shall save the industry or allow it to go into a spin,” said Mr Khalid Shapi, the managing director of Pollman’s Tours and Safaris.

As he spoke, many European tourists were cancelling their holiday in Kenya’s Coast Province.
