Irish in Thailand urged to register with dept
The Department of Foreign Affairs is urging Irish citizens in Thailand to register with it immediately.
The department says it needs to get an accurate picture of the number of people stranded in the country before it can begin organising ways to get Irish citizens out.
About 250 Irish people are understood to be stranded due to anti-government protests that have shut down the two main airports in Bangkok.
Extra staff have been sent from the Irish embassy in Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok to help them organise alternative travel.
Irish people trapped in Bangkok can register online at www.dfa.ie.
