-Tourists can exit Thailand through Phuket's airport or through Chiang Mai.
-There are hourly buses and trains to Penang Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
Then from these neighbouring countries you can catch a flight to other destinations.

If you are on a tight budget and still cannot get a way to go out for now you can check in to various cheap hotels in the city.
